Transport Select Committee

The Transport Select Committee (TSC) held an inquiry into the current motorcycle testing arrangements on the 14th October 2009.

The Transport Committee is charged by the House of Commons with scrutiny of the Department for Transport. Its formal remit is to examine the expenditure, administration and policy of the Department for Transport and its associated public bodies.

MCITA submitted evidence to the TSC as a representative organisation for motorcycle trainers. We also presented oral evidence at the hearing. If you would like to watch this, please follow the link http://www.parliamentlive.tv/Main/Player.aspx?meetingId=4739

On Tuesday 23rd March 2010 the TSC published their report announcing that ‘millions had been wasted on new super centres’. The MCITA were delighted that the TSC raised awareness of the issues that face trainers due to the implementation of the Directive and specifically commented on the lack of sites, the distance of the sites and the trainer booking system.

The report is available to read online at http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm/cmtran.htm
