There are two modules to the practical test. You will not be able to take either module unless you have a valid CBT and Theory Test certificate. You have to pass your module one test before you can attempt module two. You might want to leave a gap between the two modules or you may opt to do them one after the other. Why not speak to a trainer about booking your test and see what they advise and what choices they can offer you?
Module One – The Off Road Module takes place on a Motorcycle Manoeuvring Area (MMA), a large safe area at a test centre. It takes 10-15 minutes and tests your ability to control your motorcycle or scooter. Click here to find out more about the manoeuvres you will need to complete.
Module Two – This takes place on the road and lasts about 40 minutes. First you must take an eyesight test (read a number plate 20 metres from where you are standing). You will also have to be able to answer some safety questions about the vehicle you are riding. You can see the types of safety questions by following this link
You will ride on a variety of roads to demonstrate skills such as pulling out from behind a parked vehicle and a hill start. Like the car test, there will also be an element of independent riding, where you make your own decisions by following traffic signs, a series of directions from the examiner or a combination of both. You will be in radio contact with your Examiner who will be following you on a motorcycle or in a car.
